Definition


Clinical Document Architecture, an XML-based document markup standard that specifies the structure and semantics of clinical documents for the purpose of vendor-independent data exchange. Published by the HL7 Organization.


CDA Release 1 has been an approved ANSI Standard since late 2000 and has been used in over 15 large-scale international projects.
CDA Release 2 received ANSI approval in May 2005 and is based on XML.
